Time Flies When You’re Having Fun!

Well it’s certainly been a large gap. Previously I had been shooting for one post a day, to get as much nitty gritty as possible, but after this big a gap, I don’t think I’ll be able to remember due details. There’s probably a few reasons I’ve been ignoring daily updates on the travel blog:

  • China is very relaxing, and I’ve sunk into a “home” mode rather than a “travel” mode.
  • I chose to stop caffeine cold turkey, which left me in a pretty tired state most of the time.
  • I’ve also been focusing on other priorities as I mentioned, so that leaves less time to the blog.

Still though, there have been some highlights!

Kung Fu Fast Food! Truly the best fast food place of all time, and apparently a Guangdou chain. At ~2-3 US dollars for a very filling meal, can’t be beat. And has vegetables!

Theme Restaurant, a very beautifully laid out restaurant that specializes in goose, which tastes quite a lot like duck. Also has a very special rice noodle that’s apparently only made in this one region due to its’ difficulty, which did in fact stand out (even pre-knowledge of this) as being exceptionally tasty.

Watching the Minions movies every day, literally, because Lu’s sister likes it. Realizing it’s actually not bad (or realize you’re slowly going insane).

The danta (egg custard tarts) from the bakery next door, washed down with a cool refreshing POCARI SWEAT, after a sweaty and intense workout at the local exercise park.

A long bike ride around the island on the hottest day we’ve had yet, and seeing the grand architecture of a government set on building.

Visiting Hong Kong, and realizing it’s a whole other country that you have to go through customs for. Then realizing Lu’s dad booked us the whitest place in all of Hong Kong.

A deluge of west meets east at the Hong Kong hotel buffet, and my first cup of coffee after like 5 days of withdrawal. Going to the only Chinese food place in the area for lunch and then for dinner since who wants italian food in China?

Having lunch with 25 Wus, a cacophony of conversation while I act the deaf mute in the corner eating as much as I can.

Celebrating my birthday, with a card from Mei Mei and a very cute golden snake from Lu’s dad and stepmom.
